North Attleborough taxpayers deserve leaders who prioritize fiscal responsibility and smart spending decisions. Councilor Mark Gould Jr. has consistently advocated for careful oversight of tax dollars, asking the tough questions to ensure funding goes where it’s needed most.
Unfortunately, when he recently questioned a $50,000 expenditure, it was met with hostility behind closed doors. Dan Donavan responded with expletives, and Ann Slobogan began shouting—an unnecessary reaction to a simple question about fiscal responsibility. Yet, despite the outburst, Councilor Gould remained composed and stood by his commitment to responsible governance. Shouldn’t tough questions about our tax dollars be met with answers—not resistance? More leadership like Gould's is needed. When valid concerns and good ideas are raised, this should be met with thoughtful consideration and not blind outrage.
While millions have been allocated to various projects, critical concerns—like ensuring our high school facilities meet basic ADA compliance—remain unresolved. Leadership means making responsible choices, not just approving every expenditure without scrutiny.
North Attleborough voters have a choice on April 1st: elect leaders committed to fiscal responsibility and accountability and ensuring North Attleborough’s future is built on responsible financial decisions. We need to elect fiscally responsible candidates—leaders committed to accountability, transparency, and smart budgeting.
