A capricious nature that two Town Councilors displayed the other night following the Council's conclusion was nothing short of the best example why change is needed on North Attleborough's Town Council.
Dan Donovan, in a flurry of obnoxious curse words, to which Andrea Slobogan chimed in on, began berating Councilor Mark Gould Jr. when cameras from North TV were turned off, because Councilor Gould had questioned a $50,000 expenditure, which was tabled for another time. I thought a Councilor's job was primarily oversight.
Oversight of our tax dollars and how they are spent! Being mortified hearing this from eyewitnesses gives me just cause to draw attention as to why such a surplus of funds exists but the boys' & girls' locker rooms at the high school remain inoperable for almost 5 years now. Who's accountable for that one?
Were ball fields & bleachers more important than bringing the high school up to ADA compliance? Sad to think those all too often concerned to virtue signal others' faults find themselves the bully, the antagonist, or perpetrator of ill will. Is our council compromised with the clear disregard for the very purpose of an executive aspect to our governance as a town?
There remains a 2-week battle for 9 Councilor seats with 19 Candidates. The choice remains for our 22 thousand-plus registered voters on April 1st, 2025. Will fiscal conservatism prevail or a spending of tax dollars on so many projects with so many questionable variables this current council seems perfectly resolute to be unaccountable as to how our money gets spent?
Mr. Gould has consistently been shot down on camera with other councilors shaking their heads, holding their foreheads, uttering words under their breath, much as insolent children would do while still unable to control themselves despite the forum being How Our Tax Dollars Are Spent.
Yours in service and accountability,
James Lang
Candidate for Town Council
